Periodontal Treatment

Gum disease is like an umbrella term that includes Gingivitis and Periodontitis.

The most common cause of gingivitis is a build-up of bacterial plaque. It is this plaque that irritates the gum that causes gums to get swollen, red and bleed. Not everyone will experience these first signs.

Once this bacteria start to get under your gums, they start to destroy the supporting tissues and eventually destroy bone, this is periodontitis. Unfortunately periodontitis is irreversible, it can only be stabilised.
